The UK Visitor Visa—also known as the UK Tourist Visa—allows individuals to travel to the UK for tourism, visiting family or friends, attending business meetings, or short-term studies. You can stay in the UK for up to 6 months per visit once your visa is approved.

Our Visit Visa Services

The UK Visit Visa typically allows you to stay in the UK for up to
6 months within any 12-month period. This doesn’t mean you can spend six months each visit—your total stay across multiple trips must not exceed 6 months within that year. Some categories, such as Student Visitors and Private Medical Visitors, may be eligible to stay for up to 11 months.
To simplify the application process, the UK government has grouped most short-term visit categories into four main types:

  • Standard Visitor Visa – for tourism, visiting family or friends, short courses, and business meetings.
  • Permitted Paid Engagement Visa – for short-term paid work in specific professional roles.
  • Marriage Visitor Visa – for individuals coming to get married or register a civil partnership.
  • Transit Visa – for those passing through the UK en route to another country.

Detailed Information About Our Visit Visa Service

The UK Visit Visa allows non-residents to stay in the UK for a maximum of 6 months within any 12-month period. This total includes multiple visits; you may not stay 6 months on each entry.

Some visit visa categories, such as Student Visitors and Private Medical Visitors, may permit stays of up to 11 months.

To simplify previous visa categories, the UK now offers four main types of visit visas:

1. Standard Visitor Visa

This is the most common UK visitor visa and can be used for:

  • Tourism or visiting friends/family
  • Volunteering (up to 30 days with a registered UK charity)
  • Business visits, including:
    • Attending meetings, interviews, or conferences
    • Signing contracts or participating in trade shows (no selling)
    • Research for an overseas employer
    • Meeting UK clients for overseas-based work
    • Intra-company training, consulting, or knowledge sharing
  • Start-up/Innovator prospects meeting endorsing bodies
  • Technical visits, such as installing or repairing equipment
  • Academic visits, including research or data collection
  • Legal activities, like attending court as a witness or expert
  • Religious services, preaching or pastoral work
  • Creative industries, including:
    • Musicians, artists, and performers attending festivals or events
    • International film crew for non-UK financed shoots
  • Sports professionals attending events, trials, or training
  • Specialist roles, e.g.:
    • Journalists, translators, archaeologists, personal assistants, or tour leaders
  • Medical and dental graduates taking unpaid clinical exams or training
  • Short-term study (up to 30 days, if not the main reason for the visit)
  • Private medical treatment, if funded and finite
  • Transit, if passing through the UK en route to another country

2. Marriage Visitor Visa

Delays may result in the claim being dismissed, even if you’re within the 3-month period.

  • Get married in the UK or give formal notice of marriage.
  • It differs from the Fiancée Visa, as the Marriage Visitor Visa does not permit visa conversion post-marriage.
  • Both partners may apply as non-UK nationals to marry in the UK.
  • The visa is valid for 6 months, and the applicant must leave the UK afterward.

3. Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visa

This visa allows short-term paid work (up to 1 month) under specific conditions:

  • Applicants must be invited by a UK-based organization for one of the following:
    • Participating in sports, entertainment, or broadcasting
    • Fashion modelling
    • Examining UK-based pilots or aviation professionals
    • Delivering guest lectures at UK institutions
    • Serving on panels or as an academic expert
    • Assessing students or exams in a specialized field
